Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional surgical care to patients across a diverse range of procedures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in assessing, planning, and implementing patient care before, during, and after surgery, ensuring a sterile and safe surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and create individualized care plans.
• Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical process.
• Educate patients and their families on pre and post-operative care.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices in the operating room.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to coordinate comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of current operating room experience.
• Experience floating to various surgical specialties, including vascular, orthopedic, trauma, general surgery, and urology.
• Travel nursing experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in using EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
• Experience in both scrub and circulating roles.
• Candidates must have a current New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Possession of a personal vehicle is required.

Patient Population

This position involves working with a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to adult patients.

Operating Room Details

• Active operating room setup includes 14 surgical rooms along with coverage in Labor & Delivery for C-sections.
• Types of procedures performed encompass all surgical specialties except cardiac and ophthalmology.
• Average procedures performed per day is approximately 50.

Training Requirements

As of January 1, 2024, all new and returning agency staff must have completed training from an approved group for onboarding and clearance, including verbal de-escalation training.

Additional Information

Non-billable orientation lasts for 8 hours. Ensure requested time off during the assignment is noted at the time of submission as requests after upload will not be approved.
