Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week assignment requiring general surgery experience and on-call availability.

Details

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift schedules including 5x8-hour (0645-1515 or 1045-1915) and 4x mixed 8/12-hour shifts (0645-1515, 1045-1915, 0645-1915)
• On-call requirements include up to 5 shifts per 6-week schedule, averaging about 3 shifts, mostly on weekends
• On-call shifts are 12 hours (7A-7P or 7P-7A), with assignment to AM or PM shifts
• One 12-hour buddy call (orientation) shift required within the first two weeks of the contract
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Scrubs provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state license or Compact license) currently in hand
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of General Surgery experience required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel assignment experience required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
• Experience must support at least 2 years within the previous 3 years

Additional Information

• Perform circulating and/or scrub RN duties for a variety of surgical procedures including general, orthopedic, gynecologic, urologic, vascular, plastics, neurology, podiatry, and bariatric surgeries
• Experience with robotics systems such as Da Vinci Xi and Mako Surgical System is a plus
• Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia preferred
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Maximum of 7 RTO days allowed per 13-week contract
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not eligible; at least one prior travel assignment is required for consideration
