Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 3 years of OR experience and an active NJ or compact RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based Operating Room unit
• 10-hour AM shifts, 4 days per week (7am-5pm), totaling 38 hours weekly
• Call rotation approximately 3 times per month, including a 24-hour weekend call shift (Saturday or Sunday) once every 6 weeks or twice per contract
• May be required to float to a sister hospital nearby as needed
• Uses Epic charting system
• Requires coverage of one winter and one summer holiday

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• CNOR certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience required
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
• Experience with surgical patient care, pre-admission testing evaluation, and patient education
• Knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals, safe transfer techniques, and body mechanics
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Perform comprehensive pre- and post-operative patient assessments and education across the surgical continuum of care
• Support Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) by evaluating orders for appropriateness based on procedure, age, and health status
• Demonstrate competent clinical skills across all patient age groups from pediatric to geriatric
• Maintain accurate documentation of nursing care and patient progress
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality
• Collaborate with the perioperative team, prioritizing patient care based on condition and needs
• Adhere to Universal Protocol and use two patient identifiers for safety
• Local candidates accepted at a different rate
• Travelers may extend on assignment up to one calendar year from the initial start date, after which a break is required before returning
