Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 24 months of current OR experience and Trauma Level II background.

Details

• Level I trauma center Operating Room unit with 16 OR suites, typically running 12-14 rooms
• Case volume averages 35-50 cases per day with turnover expectations under 20 minutes
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, transplants, with lower volume ENT and plastics
• Special equipment includes 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and Synthes/Stryker for ortho trauma cases
• Both scrub and circulating duties preferred
• Day shift schedule: Monday-Friday, 4x10s with a 6:30am start and rotating day off, 40 hrs/week
• Call and weekend requirements include one overnight call per week and three weekends over the 13-week contract, with weekend call running from end of shift Friday until 6:30am Monday
• Floating required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
• Scrubs provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (Iowa or Compact/Multistate)
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of current Operating Room experience required, hospital/medical center experience prioritized
• Circulating and operating room experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
• Required case experience in General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
• Highly preferred additional experience in Neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and Vascular
• EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Scrubbing experience in Orthopedics highly preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests permitted during the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holiday windows
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are restricted from working travel assignments in another market within 12 months, though this does not apply to those who previously worked travel assignments at UPH
