Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Trauma Level I acute care hospital, requiring trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds
- Operating Room unit with Trauma Level I designation
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15
- Variable start times available (7:00, 9:00)
- May need to cover one additional night shift within the contract as needed
- On-call required, distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks (up to 6-8 shifts per 6-week period, including nights, evenings, and weekends)
- Weekend requirement
- Floating required between like units and sister facilities nearby
- Uses Epic charting system
- OR/Endo/L&D/PACU scrubs provided

Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of experience required (5 years preferred)
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Prior travel experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience in vascular, general surgery, orthopedic, neurology, gynecology, plastics, podiatry, urology, ENT, bariatric, and thoracic procedures
- Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and cell saver equipment
- Knowledge of universal protocol, infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, and specimen handling
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Perform circulating and scrub duties across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, neuro, ortho, general surgery, urology, ENT, plastics, and bariatric cases
- Support emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia procedures
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO must be submitted upfront at time of consideration; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for local designation
- Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities as permanent staff, travelers, or per-diem/registry
