Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring a WI or compact RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience.

Details

  • 636-bed Level III Trauma Center with Level III NICU, Magnet-designated, and a Primary Stroke Center located in Milwaukee, WI
  • Surgery Room unit with 21 OR suites supporting a variety of surgical specialties
  • Case types include Neuro/ENT (spine, cranial, and ENT procedures), Orthopedic (fractures, total joints, ortho spine, hand/podiatry), and General surgery (breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, oncology, GU, GYN, and robotic cases)
  • Uses navigation systems including Medtronic Cranial & Spine, Medtronic Stealth, Stryker, and Synaptive Navigation
  • Uses Hanna Table for orthopedic procedures
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Medication dispensing via Pyxis
  • 8-hour day shifts with variable start times between 0530-0700
  • 40 standard hours per week
  • On-call required with a 30-minute response time, following an 8-week call rotation schedule
  • Call slots include End of Shift (EOS) coverage, overnight (2230-0700) shifts, and 1-2 weekend call assignments per 8-week cycle
  • No call room available
  • Cross-trained to float within the General Main OR specialty areas and the Urology center, with no floating to other hospitals or sites
  • Holiday weeks require either working 4x10-hour shifts or taking the holiday unpaid
  • Facility-provided orientation lasting 1-1.5 weeks depending on team and shift assignment
  • Free parking available with shuttle service to and from the parking structure
  • Starbucks and cafeteria available on campus

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience required
  • Minimum 12 months of core OR specialty experience within the last year required
  • Skills checklist matching acuity/modality applied for, completed within the last year
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Candidate's middle name/initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Prior experience with Epic EMR

Additional Information

  • Provide circulating and/or scrub RN support across a wide range of surgical specialties including Neuro/ENT, Orthopedics, and General surgery
  • Work alongside a support team including Charge RNs, Leads, Supervisors, Manager, Surgeons, and Anesthesia team
  • Robotic surgery (XI) training not typically provided to agency staff unless candidate has strong prior robotics experience and plans to extend beyond one contract
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility; surgical bouffant caps required to cover any scrub caps
  • First-time travelers not typically recommended for this role but may be considered with strong experience and manager approval
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible for this travel assignment
