Description
American Traveler is hiring an Operating Room RN for a Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho experience along with a CA RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds
- Operating Room unit supporting trauma, neuro, vascular, gynecology, plastics, orthopedic, urology, ENT, bariatric, and thoracic procedures
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15) with variable start times of 7:00 and 9:00 available
- Weekend requirement
- On-call requirement with call distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks, up to 6-8 shifts per 6-week period including nights, evenings, and weekends
- May be required to cover one additional night shift within the contract as needed
- Floating required between like units and sister facilities within the state
- Epic charting system used
- OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided

Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required; 3 years preferred, 5 years ideal
- BLS certification required
- Trauma Level I hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical experience required due to facility trauma status
- Experience with Epic charting system required
- Experience with vascular procedures (AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral popliteal bypass), general surgery, orthopedic/spine procedures, and emergency management protocols
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
Additional Information
- Provide surgical nursing care across a broad range of specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, bariatrics, and thoracic surgery
- Skilled use of equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
- Adherence to emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia procedures
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile local radius rule applies at a lower bill rate
- Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- RTO must be submitted upfront at time of submission, as post-submission requests may not be granted
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
