Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring a DC RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience.

Details

• Operating Room setting within a hospital environment
• Day shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts, either 6:00-19:00 or 11:00-23:00
• On-call requirement of 6 calls per 6-week schedule
• Weekend requirement of 1 shift per 6-week schedule
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Specialized procedures include total joints, spine, craniotomy, free flaps, cyto reduction, bariatric, and ENT/OMF cases
• Skills needed span General OR, Bariatrics, ENT, Neurology, Orthopedic, and Urology

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required; pending DC license may be accepted with proof of pending status at submission and license in hand prior to start
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience within the last 7 years required
• At least 1 previous travel assignment required
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years
• Skills in procedures such as ALIF, anterior cervical fusion, laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, total joint replacement, cystoscopy, endoscopic sinus procedures, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, and gastric bypass/sleeve preferred
• Flu vaccine required

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurology, ENT, Urology, Bariatrics, and Plastics
• Scrub color is ceil blue or not provided
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract
• Candidates previously employed by MedStar must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate
• First-time travelers are not typically accepted for this unit, though this position accepts first-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience
