Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - Operating Room for a night shift position requiring trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

  • Operating Room department within an acute care hospital setting
  • 277 staffed beds at the facility
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Variable start times of 7:00 and 9:00 also required
  • Weekend shifts required
  • On-call required, distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks, up to 6-8 shifts (including nights, evenings, and weekends) per 6-week period
  • May need to cover one night shift within the contract as needed
  • Floating required between like units and potentially to nearby sister facilities
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in hand
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required (3 years preferred, 5 years ideal)
  • Trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho surgical experience required due to Level I Trauma status
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Perform circulating and scrub RN duties across a broad range of surgical specialties including general surgery, vascular, neuro/spine, ortho, GYN, urology, ENT, plastics, thoracic, and robotic-assisted procedures
  • Experience with equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System is a plus
  • Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia required
  • Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for travel rate eligibility
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • RTO must be submitted at time of application
