Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring general surgery, GYN, and urology experience along with active IL licensure.

Details

• Work in a 28-suite surgical department within an acute care hospital setting, including 14 suites dedicated to general surgery
• Average of 20-40 general surgery cases per day
• Common procedures include lap chole, lap colon, lap appy, cysto, DaVinci robotic cases, hysterectomy, vascular, ENT, and urology cases
• Work alongside surgical technologists and a charge nurse who assists with cases
• Uses EPIC OP Time EMR system
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 7:00am-5:30pm or 12:30pm-11:00pm to total 36-40 hours per week
• Schedule determined by block scheduling based on need; no self-scheduling
• On-call required approximately once per week with call hours varying between 3:30pm-7:00am depending on assignment
• Weekend call required every other or every third weekend, including full weekend shifts with an assigned call shift
• Call response time is 30 minutes
• Floating required to other surgery teams or SPD if qualified

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in general surgery, GYN, and urology
• ENT experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience in facilities and operating rooms of similar size within the last 2 years preferred
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across general surgery, urology, GYN, and ENT cases
• Work within a team that includes a charge nurse supporting case assignments and surgical technologists
• Unit-specific orientation up to one week, in addition to hospital-wide orientation
• Hospital-provided scrubs required
• Sleep policy in effect for call shifts: working more than 4 hours past 11:00pm results in 8 hours off from clock-out time
