Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Transplant Surgery Contract in Weston, Florida
Join a collaborative operating room team in Weston, Florida, for a 13-week travel nursing contract supporting complex transplant and surgical care. This opportunity is designed for an experienced OR RN with strong liver and multi-organ transplant experience, including experience placing transplanted organs into recipients—not solely organ procurement. Travel OR RN Job Details
- Location: Weston, Florida
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, through February 1, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 11:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Call Requirement: One call shift per week and two 12-hour weekend shifts per month; final call expectations will be reviewed during the interview
- Unit: Operating Room with transplant surgical services
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Clinical Environment: Teaching hospital with approximately 18 operating rooms and an average daily census of 55–60 patients
- Charting: Epic
- Orientation: Approximately 40 hours, including required EKG and pharmacology assessments
- Scrub Color: Ceil blue
- Scheduling Notes: Clinicians may float within their scope of practice to support operational needs. Block scheduling is not available.
Operating Room Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Florida; pending licensure may be considered
- At least 2 years of direct Operating Room RN experience, including strong liver and transplant experience
- Demonstrated experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures
- Experience placing transplanted organs into recipients is required; organ procurement or harvesting experience alone does not meet the requirement
- Proficiency with Misonix and CUSA
- Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification completed before the start date
- Competency with Epic or comparable electronic health record systems preferred
- Clinical knowledge of general, transplant, thoracic, cardiac, renal, hepatobiliary, vascular, laparoscopic, and complex surgical procedures
- Willingness to participate in a teaching environment that includes training students and new staff
- Ability to complete required pre-start learning modules and time-sensitive onboarding activities
- Two professional references from a direct supervisor, manager, assistant nurse manager, or director are required

- Must meet required workplace health and safety screening standards, including nicotine-free workplace requirements
Travel OR RN Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the perioperative experience
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications for scheduled and emergent procedures
- Serve in circulating and scrub roles within demonstrated competencies
- Support complex liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures, including recipient implantation
- Assist with general, thoracic, cardiac, laparoscopic, oncologic, and other major surgical cases as assigned
- Demonstrate proficiency with surgical equipment and procedures, including Misonix, CUSA, electrosurgical units, fiber-optic systems, laparoscopic equipment, and specialty surgical tables
- Perform specimen handling and labeling, universal protocol and time-out procedures, infection prevention, and wound management
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, nurses, technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Provide safe handoff communication and promote patient safety before, during, and after surgery
- Participate in call coverage, weekend coverage, staff education, and clinical training activities
- Float within scope of practice and support department needs while maintaining high standards of care
