Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedic Med/Surg unit position requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Work in the Orthopedic Inpatient unit of a hospital environment
  • Care for orthopedic and medical/surgical patient populations
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting
  • Performs surgical traction device manipulation, traction setup, and wound appliance management
  • Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • 36 hours per week over 3 days per week
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Required to work 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Floating required to similar units

Requirements

  • Active Illinois state RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience
  • ASN required; BSN preferred
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in medication management, wound appliance management, care transition planning, and delegation

Additional Information

  • Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs
  • Assess ortho and medical/surgical patients each shift
  • Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
  • Coordinate patient care with physician and surgeon partners
  • Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare technician staff
  • Set up and manage orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care
  • Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • Prior Carle Health contingent workers must complete a 6-month break in service if they were on assignment for more than 1 year before returning
