Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for an Ortho unit requiring a compact or OK RN license and prior travel experience.

Details

• Work on a 30-bed Ortho/Spine unit with medical overflow patients
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, 36 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units within scope, with brief orientation provided
• Documentation via EPIC
• Navy scrub color required

Requirements

• Active RN license (OK or Compact) required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with 1:5 patient ratios required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management preferred
• Experience with pre/post neurosurgical and orthopedic trauma care preferred
• Experience with total joint replacement and peripheral nerve block catheters preferred
• Experience with wound care and wound vac management

Additional Information

• Provide care for ortho, spine, and medical overflow patients including total joint replacement and trauma cases
• First-time travelers not accepted for this role due to experience requirements
• Local candidates within 75 miles not accepted
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is allowed during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups not accepted for this position
