Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Orthopedics unit, requiring prior travel experience and Charge RN capability on night shifts.

Details

• 29-bed Med/Surg-Orthopedics unit caring for patients from adulthood through geriatrics
• High volume of total joint replacement, fracture repair, and kyphoplasty patients
• Moderate volume of other surgical and medical/observation patients
• Unit includes telemetry monitoring and an on-site physical therapy gym
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required as needed, including to any Cone Health campus
• RNs may be required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen therapy
• Experience managing GI, GU, and renal conditions including colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tubes, and CBI
• Experience with neurological conditions such as CVA and pre/post neurosurgical care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (Pass/Fail, two attempts allowed)
• Valid driver's license required for address verification

Additional Information

• Care for a mixed patient population including ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and surgical drain management
• Charge nurses on this unit carry a patient load and work alongside a mix of RNs and LPNs
• Fast-paced unit environment
• Schedules are built every six weeks according to unit demands with set weekend schedules only
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as no local rates apply
• RTO must be submitted with initial application; no post-submission RTO accepted
