Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures within the healthcare facility located in Charleston, South Carolina. This role involves evaluating patients, monitoring their condition throughout the shift, and educating patients and families about recovery processes, medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up measures.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Associate Degree (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification, or equivalent, with at least 1 year of experience in a PACU setting. CPR certifications including Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in post-anesthesia care and familiarity with surgical site verification, patient safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Additional Information: The responsibilities include patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation of condition changes; preparing patients preoperatively; participating in surgical site verification and safety protocols; and providing patient education regarding recovery and follow-up care. The role requires clinical proficiency, critical thinking, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
