Job Summary
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) specialty position is located in the Saint Louis area. This role involves working in a Level I Trauma Center critical care environment, providing recovery care for surgical patients including Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases. The position requires high acuity inpatient PACU experience and the ability to manage artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs. The work schedule is a 12-hour day shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 09/14/2026.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours minimum per week, starting 09/14/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid certification in ACLS and BLS; applicable certifications such as CCRN and TNCC preferred; high acuity PACU and ICU/critical care experience with a minimum of 2 years preferred; experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia required; working knowledge of EPIC charting system; community hospital experience preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience; previous Level I trauma ICU experience; experience with high acuity inpatient PACU; familiarity with neuro monitoring including ICP; certification in CCRN and TNCC.
- Additional Information: This position requires the ability to work within a Level I trauma center environment, supporting adult, adolescent, and geriatric patient populations. Night shift learning may be necessary to work up preoperative patients when no PACU patients are present. No local candidates within 75 miles are accepted; license in hand or pending license accepted.
- Travel & License: Pending license required; MO license submission acceptable; IL license in hand required at time of submittal.
- Unit Details: The unit features 38 patient bays, open 24/7, with a dedicated transport team and interdisciplinary support including respiratory services and interpretation services.
