Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.

Details

  • PACU unit within a large, Level 1 Trauma Center hospital
  • Unit operates 24/7 and receives patients from all surgical specialties except open heart surgery
  • Patient population includes neuro, ortho, peripheral vascular, thoracic, urology, GYN, plastics, urology, peds, and intubated patients
  • High-acuity environment with an average daily census of 65–85 patients, with frequent critical care and neuro cases
  • ICU/PCU background preferred
  • Schedule is 3x12-hour shifts, 11:00 AM–11:30 PM
  • On-call requirement of 12–24 hours per 6-week schedule block
  • Holiday coverage required — candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during their contract
  • Charting is performed in Cerner (experience required)
  • Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license in hand (or fingerprint application submitted)
  • RN degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
  • Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center required
  • Experience across multiple surgical specialties required (neuro, ortho, peripheral vascular, thoracic, urology, GYN, plastics, peds, and intubated patients)
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR required
  • Comfort working in a large, fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • 2 supervisor references required for consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates (Indiana residents) are accepted for this position at a reduced pay package
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month break before being eligible to apply as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break
  • Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
