Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring Level I Trauma experience and night shift availability.

Details

  • Inpatient PACU (Phase I) setting within a hospital environment
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Potential for weekend shifts as well as holiday coverage
  • No on-call responsibilities at this time
  • Cares for surgical patients across bariatric, cardiac, ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, and vascular cases
  • Manages various anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, spinal, and post-epidural care
  • Utilizes cardiac and neurological monitoring including EVD and ICP monitoring
  • Administers IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
  • Any charting system experience accepted

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience required
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care/management
  • Experience with ventilated patient care and respiratory management
  • Proficient in dysrhythmia recognition/management and RASS
  • Knowledgeable in PCA pump management, pain assessment, and Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive PACU care for a wide range of surgical patients, including post-anesthesia monitoring and pain management
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract to remain compliant with state requirements
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible to be hired as a traveler
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
