Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a major medical center in New Orleans, LA, supporting a high-volume surgical environment across adult and pediatric populations.
Details
- Work setting is a large hospital PACU supporting 34 ORs across two floors, including pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery areas
- Patient population includes both adult and pediatric surgical and procedural patients across all major surgical services (excluding patients requiring critical care)
- Specialized procedures include regional anesthesia and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
- The department also serves Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, pulmonary lab, CT/MRI, cysto suites, and pediatric GI/Lithotripsy cases
- Special equipment includes Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and AccuVein
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 2–3 weekends required per contract
- Floating to pediatric PACU is required as needed
Requirements
- Active Louisiana RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Prior PACU or pre/post-op nursing experience strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Nurses provide pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery care to patients of all ages across a high-volume, multi-floor surgical department
- Candidates must be comfortable caring for both pediatric and adult patients in all phases of perioperative care
- Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may designate travelers to an Emergency Team, requiring them to remain at the facility during an emergency event or serve on a relief team; accepting this position indicates agreement to this expectation
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- 13-week contract
