Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - PACU for an ambulatory surgery center position requiring 2+ years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the PACU unit of an ambulatory/outpatient surgery center
  • Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with eye and ENT diagnoses
  • Average daily census of 40 patients with 9 rooms/beds
  • Special procedures include BMTs, tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, sinus surgeries, and cataract procedures
  • Day shift schedule with a mix of 6:00 AM-2:30 PM and 7:30 AM-4:00 PM shifts
  • Will consider 4x8 or 5x8 scheduling
  • No call requirements
  • No weekend requirements
  • Rare floating to other Charlotte-area ASCs may be required, including COSC, Ballantyne ASC, Huntersville ASC, and Center City
  • No computerized charting system used on this unit

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
  • Ambulatory/outpatient work setting experience required
  • Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
  • Pre/post-op care skills required including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and obtaining operative/procedural consent
  • Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol and pain assessment & management required
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate within 50 miles of the facility
  • Unit orientation consists of 3 days
  • Scrubs are provided
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • No additional RTO allowed after signing
  • Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units with disclosure at submission
  • Preferred experience includes Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery
  • Preferred surgical case experience includes ENT, General, and Ophthalmology procedures such as tonsillectomy and cataract extraction/implant
  • Preferred skills include airway assessment, placement of oral/nasal airways, and management of pediatric patients
  • Preferred experience with emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
  • Assignment has a required end date due to unit closure on 11/25/2026
