Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in South Carolina, requiring 4 years of experience and active Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with 119 staffed beds
  • PACU assignment covering Phase I and Phase II Recovery
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM
  • Weekend requirement varies based on staffing needs, typically every 5th weekend with potential for every 3rd or 4th weekend
  • On-call required once per week plus one late shift per week
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs or to like units/sister facilities is required
  • Charting system: Epic (required)
  • Surgery cases include ENT, general, GYN, ortho, total joints, urology, ophthalmology, cardiovascular, and pediatrics
  • Clinical skills include procedural sedation administration/monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition/management, and care of pediatric patients
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available on campus

Requirements

  • Active SC or Compact/Multi-State RN license; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered with proof of application or confirmed ability to complete the SC walk-through process
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Minimum of 4 years of PACU RN experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • SSN required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidates who were previously employed (including PRN) at the MUSC system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of initial consideration; RTO submitted after that point will not be accepted
  • During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors — including travelers — may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated upon manager approval depending on unit needs
