Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 2 years of Level I trauma PACU and critical care experience and weekend availability.

Details

  • Work in a 38-bay Phase I PACU within a Level I Trauma Center, open 24/7
  • Average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
  • Recover surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
  • Does not recover open heart surgery or liver transplant patients
  • Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
  • Every Saturday and Sunday work required, with one additional weekday chosen by the clinician
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating limited to PACU or PreOp units within scope
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Level I Trauma Center PACU experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience required
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • Level I and Level II trauma experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Critical care skills required, including artificial airway management, invasive monitoring (including ICP), blood product/transfusion administration, and vasoactive drug administration
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia recognition and management, phlebotomy, IV starts, and care of ventilated patients
  • First-time travelers accepted with required 2 years Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience

Additional Information

  • Provide post-anesthesia recovery care for a wide range of acute post-surgical patients in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Facility requires facial hair to allow for proper respirator fit testing, or clinician will be expected to shave
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to this health system as a traveler
  • Travelers who complete an 18-month assignment must take a 3-month break in service before returning
