Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level II Trauma Center supporting a full range of surgical specialties, requiring at least 1 year of PACU experience and BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center with 571 total staffed beds across two campuses
• PACU with 29 bays across 2 floors
• Supports CVL cases requiring anesthesia including Watchman's, TAVRs, and EP procedures
• Occasional pre-op care for ICU patients
• Patient population includes pediatric (1 year+), adult, and geriatric patients
• Recovers same-day surgeries and in-patient admits following any procedure requiring general or spinal anesthesia, including vascular, general, robotic, orthopedic, pediatric, urology, gynecology, neuro/spine, podiatry, ophthalmology, thoracic, trauma, cardiovascular lab, GI, interventional radiology, bariatric, ENT, oral, and plastics cases
• Follows ASPAN standards
• Day shift schedule: 4x10 hours, 0900-1930
• Weekend rotation required once per 4-week period
• Call required once per 4-week period, including one primary and one secondary call shift
• Floating required, including between sister facilities
• Staggered starts throughout the day/night with a mix of 10 and 12 hour shifts
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required in respiratory care including airway assessment, care of ventilated patients, and placement of oral/nasal airways
• Medication administration experience including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
• Cardiac monitoring skills including arterial line management and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Experience with general and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) required; local anesthesia experience preferred
• Experience with nerve blocks and post-epidural/spinal management
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

• Recover patients across a wide range of surgical specialties in a high-acuity Level II Trauma Center setting
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates not accepted; must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; minimal RTO preferred and holiday RTO discouraged
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Any scrub color accepted except reddish orange
• Facility-paid parking available
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities in the area
