Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 2 years of experience, BLS and PALS certification, and floating between Pre-Op and PACU.

Details

  • Work in the PACU unit of a hospital setting
  • Provide Pre-Op care for both inpatients and outpatients as well as Phase II Recovery through discharge home
  • Patient population includes general surgery cases such as lap chole, appendectomy, bowel resection, BKA/AKA, vascular procedures, plastics, mandibular surgery, eye procedures, GYN, dental, thoracic (no open hearts), and podiatry (no ortho)
  • Occasionally provide pre-op care for cath lab vascular procedures and endoscopy
  • Approximately 3-4% pediatric patient population, though travelers are not assigned to peds
  • Additional specialties include ENT, OB-GYN, Robotic, Transplant, and Vascular
  • Utilizes breathing treatments and CPAP/BiPAP equipment
  • Day shift schedule (4x10 hours), 11:30am-10:00pm
  • Float required between Pre-Op and PACU
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS and PALS
  • ACLS certification also required
  • Conscious sedation and IV start skills required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care from pre-op assessment through Phase II recovery and discharge
  • Floating required between Pre-Op and PACU areas
  • Travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state, and refusal may impact assignment
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • First-time travelers may be considered
