PACU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Everett, Washington

- Schedule: 4 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 10-hour evening shifts, approximately 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: No regularly scheduled weekends; occasional weekend coverage may be possible based on the schedule
- Call Requirement: None
- Patient Population: Pediatric patients age 1 and older, adults, and geriatric patients
- Patient Volume: Approximately 80–100 patients per day

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for the assignment location; compact license must be in hand when applicable
- At least 1 year of recent PACU, preoperative, postoperative, or closely related critical-care nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience with pre- and post-operative patient assessment, recovery, monitoring, and discharge processes
- Ability to recognize and manage dysrhythmias, pain, sedation, airway concerns, and post-procedure complications
- Proficiency with IV initiation and maintenance, medication reconciliation, discharge instructions, and patient education
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Willingness to float to nearby sister units or locations when operationally required
PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical or interventional procedures.
- Complete preoperative assessments, review medical histories and laboratory results, verify consents, and administer pre-procedure medications as ordered.
- Monitor patients through Phase I and Phase II recovery, including airway status, vital signs, cardiac rhythm, level of consciousness, pain, nausea, and surgical site condition.
- Care for patients following vascular, general, orthopedic, pediatric, urology, gynecology, neuro/spine, thoracic, trauma, bariatric, ENT, ophthalmology, cardiovascular, and interventional radiology procedures.
- Manage pain, sedation, reversal agents, nerve blocks, monitored anesthesia care, and other post-anesthesia needs within scope and established standards.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly initiate appropriate interventions, escalation, and communication with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Perform and document 12-lead ECGs, IV therapy, medication administration, patient reassessments, and discharge readiness.
- Provide clear discharge instructions and education to patients and caregivers, including medication guidance and follow-up needs.
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and other support departments to promote excellent outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic while following ASPAN standards and department policies.
