Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position with 1 year of experience and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.

Details

• Acute care setting in the Pre/Post Day Surgery unit performing PACU Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery care
• Unit has 70 total beds
• Nurse:Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 for Phase 1 and 1:3 for Phase 2
• Common cases include Ortho, ENT, Ophthalmology, GYN, Urology, Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, and Podiatry
• ICU patients recover in PACU
• RNs are responsible for reading cardiac strips
• Uses RT equipment including CPap, BiPap, and Vents
• Perioperative Care Assistants support the unit at a 1:7 ratio
• House Supervisor available at all times
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 3 shifts of 12 hours per week, Monday-Friday, Day/Evening rotation
• Schedule includes 2 Fridays and 2 Mondays per scheduling period
• No night or weekend shifts required
• 12-hour call requirement per 4-week schedule period with 1-hour call response time
• Holiday rotation required for Winter and Summer holidays
• Floating required to Pre/Post units on 5North and 6North as needed

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (all must be AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia recovery settings
• Unit-specific orientation of up to 3 shifts provided
• OR scrubs required as part of dress code
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility, with no local travelers accepted
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative 1-year work period within WVU facilities before requiring a 2-year break
