Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level I Trauma Center PACU RN requiring at least 1 year of critical care or Level I Trauma PACU experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • PACU unit at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital providing preoperative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery care
  • Approximately 85% of patients are same-day surgery cases requiring rapid pace and quick turnover
  • Patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:3 in both pre-op and PACU
  • Day shift schedule (4x10 hours), Monday through Friday, with mixed start times of 9:00-19:30 and 10:00-20:30
  • No weekend requirement
  • On-call requirement of 24 hours per 6-week scheduling period
  • Nights, holidays, and weekends are closed
  • Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
  • Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of critical care/ICU experience or Level I Trauma Center PACU experience required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience required in EKG rhythm analysis, transfusion, blood drawing, and IV starts
  • Experience required with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
  • Proficiency managing complex postoperative patients required
  • Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II PACU care for a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical population
  • Manage complex postoperative patients including multiple drains, vasoactive drips, and mechanically ventilated patients recovering from general anesthesia
  • All staff RNs are competent in both pre- and post-op care
  • Navy scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days, with no time off allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Travelers who have completed an 18-month assignment must take a 3-month break in service before returning
