PACU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Philadelphia, PA

PACU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,070–$2,180
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, generally 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Call Requirements: Two 8-hour weekday call shifts and one 12-hour weekend call shift within a six-week schedule, plus applicable holiday call coverage
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
- Unit Volume: Approximately 30 patient visits per day across a 12-bed, 12-room recovery area
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Float Expectations: May include support for related procedural and recovery areas as needed
- Scheduling: Block scheduling is not available; requested time off must be submitted before application

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania
- At least 3 years of RN experience, including recent PACU or critical care experience
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Experience caring for both adult and pediatric patients in a PACU or critical care environment
- Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certification
- Proficiency with electronic health record documentation is required
- Ability to manage a 1:2 patient ratio in a fast-paced, high-acuity post-anesthesia recovery setting
- Strong assessment, airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-procedural recovery skills
- Current influenza vaccination is required, with limited medical or religious exemptions considered
PACU RN Responsibilities
- Provide Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from surgical, procedural, interventional, and cardiac treatments
- Perform focused assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate timely interventions
- Monitor and manage patients with ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, ventriculostomies, drains, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Manage vasoactive infusions, emergency medications, pain therapies, nerve blocks, PCA pumps, and reversal agents
- Care for patients following complex procedures, including neurosurgery, transplant, thoracic, vascular, cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, ENT, orthopedic, gynecologic, urologic, ophthalmologic, gastrointestinal, and general surgery procedures
- Provide safe care for high-acuity trauma patients, including those with injuries related to motor vehicle collisions and penetrating trauma
- Support airway assessment, extubation, oxygenation, dysrhythmia management, cardioversion, and emergency response activities
- Complete medication reconciliation, discharge education, follow-up communication, and coordination with the interdisciplinary care team
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record and maintain compliance with recovery and procedural standards
- Participate in scheduled weekday, weekend, and holiday call coverage
