Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Phase I PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of PACU and critical care/ICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a 38-bay Phase I PACU unit within a Level I Trauma Center that operates 24/7
  • Recover post-op patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgeries
  • Unit does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
  • Average daily census of 70-90 patients across adult, occasional adolescent, and geriatric populations
  • Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • No weekend or holiday requirements
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
  • Floating required within PACU and PreOp units only
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (MO or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (CCRN and TNCC preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience required
  • Level I and Level II Trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills required include critical care, dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressor administration, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide post-anesthesia recovery care for a wide range of acute surgical patients, including those requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive medications
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this role
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no time off allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to the facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
