Prime Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN PACU - Post Anesthesia Care for a travel nursing job in Hilo, Hawaii.

We are seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse to care for surgical patients before and after procedures. The RN will provide care during Phase I and Phase II recovery, monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, identify potential complications, and provide safe post-operative care.
Strong ICU or ER RNs with at least 2 years of hospital critical-care experience may be considered in place of PACU experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Recover patients in Phase I and Phase II following anesthesia.
- Perform frequent assessments of airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status and vital signs.
- Monitor patients for anesthesia-related complications.
- Assess surgical sites for bleeding, swelling and other complications.
- Manage post-operative pain and nausea.
- Administer medications and IV therapies.
- Monitor PCA pumps and IV infusions.
- Provide airway and respiratory monitoring.
- Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons and the healthcare team.
- Prepare patients for transfer or discharge according to established criteria.
- Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience preferred.
- 2+ years of hospital ICU or ER critical-care experience may be accepted as a substitute for PACU experience.
- Active Hawaii RN License required by start of assignment.
- AHA BLS required.
- AHA ACLS required.
- AHA PALS recommended and may be required.
- NIHSS, TNCC and other specialty certifications preferred when applicable.
- Flu vaccination or facility-approved exemption required.
