Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 2 years of Level I trauma PACU and critical care experience in a high-acuity, teaching hospital setting.

Details

  • Work in a 38-bay PACU unit within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Unit operates 24/7 with an average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours (12:00-22:30)
  • No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call requirements
  • Recover post-op patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
  • Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
  • Dedicated PCT/transport team supports the unit
  • Float required within PACU or PreOp units only
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I trauma center required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience required
  • Level I and Level II trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Prior charge experience preferred
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility

Additional Information

  • Recover a diverse population of adult, occasional adolescent, and geriatric surgical patients in a Level I trauma setting
  • Care involves artificial airways, invasive monitoring including ICP, transfusions, and vasoactive drug administration
  • Night shift staff will be expected to learn pre-op patient workup
  • Scrub color required: navy blue
  • First-time travelers are accepted, provided they meet the 2 years Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience requirement
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Pending license accepted for consideration
