Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring PA or compact RN licensure, trauma certifications, and prior critical care or PACU experience.
Details
- Work in the PACU unit of a Level I Trauma Center
- Patient mix includes adults and pediatrics
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:00-18:30 or 8:00-18:30
- On-call requirements include 2 weekday on-call shifts and 1 weekend 12-hour on-call shift within a 6-week schedule, plus 1 summer and 1 winter holiday on-call
- Possible floating to Tabor GI or Pain Center as needed
- Uses Cerner Aecis SurgiNet and Epic charting systems
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
Requirements
- Active PA or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: TNCC, PALS, ACLS, BLS
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Critical Care or PACU required
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- ICU background required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Prior travel nurse experience required with Critical Care/PACU background
- SICU, MICU, and CTICU experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Skills required include airway assessment, ventilator care, chest tube management, extubation, ABG interpretation, intubation, IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and various surgical specialties including neuro, ortho, GI, GYN, vascular, and plastics preferred
- Valid state license or certification required at time of consideration
- Valid professional references and certification copies required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide pre- and post-operative care across a wide range of surgical specialties including neuro, ortho, cardiovascular, GI, GYN, and plastics
- Support patients under various types of anesthesia including general, spinal, MAC, and nerve blocks
- Participate in pain assessment, PCA pump management, and isolation precautions/PPE protocols
- Scrubs are provided
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a different rate
- RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; requests after submission will not be accepted
- Fingerprinting and background compliance may require travel time in Pennsylvania
- Holiday coverage required for one summer and one winter holiday on-call shift
