Travel to Midland, Texas for a fast-paced PACU Registered Nurse opportunity in a collaborative Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Support surgical patients across a dynamic case mix while working in a respected West Texas healthcare setting.

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour day shift
• Schedule: Monday through Friday; call required
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120 - $2,230
• Orientation: Included prior to start
• Additional Notes: Must be available for some holidays and able to orient to both PACU and Pre-Op Holding as needed

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license required before start date; pending license may be considered with submission
• At least 2 years of PACU nursing or related peri-anesthesia experience preferred
• Experience caring for pediatric patients required; critical care RN background strongly preferred
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
• NIH Stroke Scale knowledge or competency required
• Cerner EMR/charting experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Ability to work with a broad surgical population including adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Must be comfortable with call coverage and self-scheduling requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, attentive recovery nursing care for patients emerging from anesthesia
• Monitor patients recovering from orthopedic, neuro, general surgery, urology, gynecology, dental, and pediatric ENT procedures
• Support pre-op coverage when needed in the connected Pre-Op Holding area
• Assess and manage patients with nerve blocks, chest tubes, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines
• Deliver Phase I PACU nursing care, including airway assessment, pain management, sedation monitoring, and circulation checks
• Care for patients across a broad acuity range, including pediatric and trauma-related cases
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response, and other interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
• Follow infection control, safety, and perioperative protocols to support excellent patient outcomes
