Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Level I trauma center position requiring 2 years of critical care and PACU experience along with ACLS and BLS certification.

Details

  • Work in a 38-bay Phase I PACU unit within a Level I Trauma Center, open 24/7
  • Adult, occasional adolescent, and geriatric patient population
  • Average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Recover surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
  • Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
  • Floating limited to PACU or PreOp units only
  • Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I trauma center required
  • ICU/critical care experience required
  • Level I and Level II trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
  • Experience with pre/post-op care, EKG/ECG, and pre-op assessment and education
  • First-time travelers accepted if they meet the 2 years Level I critical care/ICU and PACU experience requirement

Additional Information

  • Recover a wide variety of acute post-op surgical patients, including those requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
  • Confidence in critical care nursing required
  • Magnet-designated and teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Facial hair must accommodate proper fit testing or must be shaved for compliance
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Prior permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within the health system as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
