PACU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Fargo, North Dakota

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse
- Location: Fargo, North Dakota
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200–$2,320
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Estimated End Date: February 1, 2027
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: Rotating 8- or 12-hour shifts with varied weekend rotation and occasional nights
- Call: Backup call rotation with staff, potentially including approximately two weeknights per month and up to every fourth weekend
- Unit: Phase I PACU with 18 bays and an additional 14-bay area supported by the same staff
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 or 2:1 in accordance with ASPAN standards
- Charting and Equipment: Epic, AcuDose medication dispensing, Philips monitors, ventilators, and BiPAP
- Orientation: Hospital and unit orientation with support from a buddy RN
PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience
- Acute-care or hospital nursing experience required; outpatient surgery center-only experience is not a match
- Experience caring for high-acuity patients in a hospital or critical care setting
- Ability to care for both adult and pediatric patients, including an average pediatric volume of 5–15 patients per day
- Experience in a large hospital environment preferred, ideally with 250 or more beds
- Active North Dakota Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Critical care experience preferred
- Ability to float between campuses for Phase I PACU coverage as needed
PACU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Phase I recovery care to adult and pediatric patients following surgery and procedures
- Care for patients across surgical specialties, including ICU, cardiac catheterization laboratory, endoscopy, and interventional radiology populations
- Monitor airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic, and pain-management needs during post-anesthesia recovery
- Manage high-acuity patients requiring ventilatory support, BiPAP, and advanced monitoring
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly initiate appropriate interventions and escalation of care
- Administer medications and document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, procedural teams, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Support safe handoffs and transitions from PACU to inpatient units, critical care, or discharge areas
- Maintain patient safety and uphold applicable PACU and ASPAN standards
