Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at an academic medical center in Michigan, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PACU experience and an active MI RN license in hand at time of consideration.

Details

  • 13-week contract in a PACU unit at an academic medical center
  • 10-hour shifts with rotating start times: 5:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM
  • Day and evening shift rotation (shifts span from 5:30 AM–4:00 PM through 2:00 PM–12:30 AM)
  • 2–4 weekends required per contract
  • No floating or on-call requirements
  • High-acuity post-anesthesia care environment supporting a wide range of surgical specialties including cardiac, neuro, thoracic, transplant, bariatrics, robotics, vascular, and more
  • Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, and Pre/Post-Op care settings

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license (non-compact, not pending) required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required prior to start
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
  • Preferred skills include: end-tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, care of ventilated patients, extubation (LMA/ET), ABG interpretation, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition and management, IV vasopressor administration, procedural sedation monitoring, malignant hyperthermia protocol, and pain assessment and management
  • 2 supervisory references (manager or above) required for consideration — charge RN references are not accepted
  • All requested time off must be submitted at initial consideration — no time off permitted during the first week of contract

  • Candidates who were previously employed by this health system within the last 12 months are not eligible to apply; those who left more than 12 months ago and left in good standing may be considered
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after 1 year
  • Flu vaccination is required (no religious or medical exemptions accepted); candidates with a documented allergy must use the allergy-free vaccine option
  • COVID vaccination is not required
  • No pre-hire modules required; all orientation modules are completed onsite
  • Traveler pairs are not accepted for this position
