Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with at least 2 years of PACU or ICU experience for a fast-paced, high-acuity unit at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.

Details

  • Work in the PACU of a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma teaching hospital
  • High acuity patient population aged 12 and older in a fast-paced environment
  • Receives outpatient and inpatient patients from varied areas post-sedation, including unstable ICU patients
  • Performs procedures such as TEE, cardioversion, epidural block placement, and lumbar injections
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Day shift schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, 11:00-21:30
  • Weekend shifts required unless otherwise stated on schedule
  • On-call responsibilities required
  • Floating within hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
  • 13-week assignment length

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • CCRN and CPI certifications preferred
  • Relias EKG certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2 years of ICU experience (CVICU or SICU) from a Level II Trauma facility or larger with willingness to train into PACU
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred; Level II Trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Strong critical thinking skills and high-acuity ICU or PACU background required

Additional Information

  • Care for post-procedure patients recovering from sedation across a range of surgical specialties including cardiac, neuro, ortho, vascular, and general surgery
  • Manage patients with complex monitoring needs including arterial lines, CVP, and Swan-Ganz catheters
  • Perform pre/post-operative care duties such as EKG/ECG, medication reconciliation, and patient education
  • Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any scrub color accepted
  • First-time travelers accepted if they possess strong relevant experience
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Maximum RTO of 1 week; RTO cannot be requested during orientation week
  • Prior UW staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
