Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a teaching hospital assignment requiring a CA RN license, BSN, and at least 3 years of PACU experience.

Details

• Work in the PACU unit with ability to float to Pre-Op and Extended Care units as well as other UCSF facilities
• Day shift schedule, 8-hour shifts with variable start times (6:00 AM start)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Provides anesthesia recovery, airway management, and pain management care
• Cares for patients across surgical specialties including ENT, GYN, Ophthalmology, Urology, General, Robotics, and Endo/Laparoscopic cases
• Manages patients receiving general and gynecologic anesthesia
• Uses Epic for charting
• Floating may occur to other departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience with at least 3 years of PACU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be reflected in employment history
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• CCRN or CPAN certification preferred
• 2 years of critical care experience preferred
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provides pre-op, PACU, and extended care nursing across a range of surgical and anesthesia cases
• Performs discharge instruction, medication reconciliation, EKG/ECG acquisition, and urinary catheterization as needed
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for a rehire eligibility check
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to offer; no time off allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work together on the same unit
