Description
Job Title: Lead Pathology Assistant
Profession: Lead Pathology Assistant

Experience: Minimum of three years technical experience preferred
License: Required certifications preferred
Certifications: Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent preferred
Must-Have: High School Education/GED or equivalent required
Description:
Processes a variety of laboratory specimens, including the majority of pathological specimens.
Prepares tissue for numerous pathological tests.
Conducts gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens.
Performs postmortem examinations.
Assists with daily operations in histology, surgical pathology, cytopathology, transcription, and review of daily logs.
Monitors pathology department charges.
Supports the pathologist in the performance of autopsies and provides reports on the deceased.
Performs gross examinations and dictations on specimens received from surgical and non-surgical cases.
Assists in histotechnologist preparation of tissue and cytology specimens for diagnostic examination by pathologists.
Conducts quality improvement and assurance activities to meet Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines.
Maintains an orderly and clean work environment, ensuring proper tissue waste disposal and the rotation and dumping of stains and reagents.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
