Pathology Assistant, with a dedicated pathology team, is a travel temporary assignment in a hospital setting located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Responsibilities
- Perform surgical specimen dissection on simple to complex cases and prepare material for routine histology and specialized tests
- Produce accurate gross descriptions and dictate findings for pathologist review
- Conduct frozen section procedures and maintain cryostats; communicate results promptly to pathology staff
- Ensure correct patient identification on all specimens and maintain traceability across the workflow
- Support quality assurance, QC monitoring, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the gross cutting area and morgue; dispose of tissues and reagents per procedures
- Assist with compliance activities, update procedure manuals, and participate in CAP-related quality initiatives
Requirements
- Certification: ASCP Pathologists’ Assistant certification or exam-ready status with certification prior to start date
- Education: NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant Program completion
- Experience: Prior grossing experience preferred
- Licensure/credentials: Ability to meet required credentialing and participate in approved hospital pathology workflows
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and documentation skills; able to interact effectively with pathologists, providers, and team members
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a hospital surgical pathology setting; able to prioritize safety and quality in a fast-paced environment
