First-time travelers accepted. Required to work all scheduled shifts. Facility cannot accommodate scheduling requests outside of approved time off. Weekend availability required, may be every weekend or a mix. No on-call requirements. Candidates will not float within the scope to meet facility needs. No block schedule accommodation available. Pending licenses not accepted. Time off restrictions: No more than 6 days per contract; no holidays. Travelers will not be trained on trauma during the first 13-week contract. References must be provided upon submission. Description: The Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department. Duties include performing vital signs, EKGs, and assisting with activities of daily living. PCTs are expected to assist with and manage restrained patients and may act as a sitter for patients experiencing mental health crises. Candidates must be able to perform CPR and decontaminate patients when necessary. PCTs will also be responsible for bed set-up and equipment preparation for new patient arrivals. The position involves assisting with wound care, performing point-of-care blood glucose checks, and managing catheter care. Care will be provided for a diverse patient population, including both adults and pediatrics with various medical conditions. The PCT will collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams, including respiratory, social services, and pharmacy. The patient ratio is 1:10-14, depending on needs during shifts. Additional responsibilities include stocking supplies and ensuring cleanliness within the unit.
