Job Title: Patient Care Technician Profession: Patient Care Technician Specialty: Patient Care Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of Emergency Department experience required License: CNA certification, Licensed in Washington State Certifications: BLS, CNA certification Must-Have: ED experience required. First-time travelers accepted. Description: The position requires working all scheduled shifts. The facility cannot accommodate scheduling requests outside of approved time off. The role includes responsibilities such as vital signs monitoring, EKGs, and assisting with activities of daily living. It also involves managing restrained patients and setting up beds and equipment. Travelers will not receive training on trauma during the first contract. The facility accommodates neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. The patient population includes those with diverse backgrounds, including mental health and substance use disorders. The average patient ratio is 10 to 14, depending on needs. Essential duties include performing point-of-care blood glucose tests, IV catheter removal, and wound care. Candidates must be able to physically perform CPR and assist with splinting procedures. Clean and prepare stretcher spaces for new patient arrivals while stocking supplies is also required. The role requires acting as a sitter for patients experiencing mental health crises. Interdisciplinary support is available, including respiratory services, social services, and rapid response teams. Regular weekend shifts are expected. Flexibility in shift scheduling may be necessary based on facility needs.
