Description:
Department: PCU
Number of Beds: 36
Common Diagnoses include anything post-ICU, post-shock, post-stroke, pneumonia, CHF, post-cardiac arrest, respiratory failure for weaning or unweaning.
Job duties include taking vitals, providing A.M. and P.M. care, restocking supplies, running errands, performing EKGs, measuring outputs, bladder scanning, and checking blood glucose levels.
Nurse aides and PCTs typically staff the unit with a ratio of 1:5.
Telemonitoring is centralized and operates 24/7.
Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry appropriately and communicate changes with physicians for timely intervention.
Schedules are made four weeks in advance.
Weekend requirements include a minimum of every other weekend.
Holiday rotation may be required.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Scrub color is maroon red.
Cancellation policy is three shifts per 13 weeks.
Charting system used is Allscripts.
BSN is not required.
