Travel Patient Care Tech (PCT) - $946 per week in Bronx, NY

Job Title: Patient Care Technician Profession: PCT Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Nights Hours per Shift: 37.5 hours per week Experience: 1 year License: Not required Certifications: BLS Certification, Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant via NHA Must-Have: - Experience with telemetry - BLS certification Description: The department is focused on telemetry for cardiac and stroke patients. The unit has a total of 41 beds. Patients require various levels of care, including activities of daily living (ADLs), blood sugar checks, and vital sign monitoring. There are tele/monitor techs available on the unit. Registered Nurses are required to read their own telemetry strips. A charge nurse is present on each shift and does not typically take a patient assignment unless necessary. There are 3-4 nursing aides on each shift, with no specific patient-to-aide ratios in place. Shifts for PCTs include Days, Evenings, and Nights, with a typical schedule made for 4-6 weeks at a time. Travelers are expected to be flexible and assist in filling gaps in permanent staff schedules. Weekend shifts are required every other week, covering Saturday and Sunday. Holiday rotations may also be necessary. There is no on-call or standby requirement for this position. First to float is the expectation for staff when needed. Scrub colors for the position are maroon red. The unit will provide 2 days of classroom orientation and 1 day of precepted orientation for new staff. There is a cancellation policy in place allowing for a limited number of shift cancellations without penalty. The charting system used on the unit is Allscripts.
