- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics, including medical-surgical, telemetry, and emergency department overflow patients
- Float Expectations: Float throughout the hospital and potentially to nearby affiliated facilities based on staffing needs
Travel Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in good standing; compact license must be active and in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience
- Previous charge nurse experience is required
- Recent clinical experience in the United States is required
- Medical-surgical nursing and telemetry experience
- Experience with cardiac telemetry, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current NIHSS certification
- Epic electronic health record charting experience
- Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
- Flexibility to work weekends and designated holidays as scheduled
Med-Surg/Telemetry Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care for adult and geriatric patients across medical-surgical, telemetry, and emergency department overflow units
- Float between units to support changing census, patient acuity, and staffing needs
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
- Manage patient assignments typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, depending on acuity and unit needs
- Administer medications, perform comprehensive assessments, coordinate care, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in Epic
- Apply appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment practices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners, including respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, IV teams, rapid response teams, and support services
- Assume charge responsibilities on select small units, including staffing coordination, bed-flow management, and general unit oversight
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and the broader care team while adapting to a variety of clinical environments
