Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU Float position requiring 2+ years of experience and travel nursing experience with a Med Surg focus.

Details

• PCU Float unit primarily supporting Med Surg
• Day shift schedules of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
• Alternating 36/48 hour schedule required, facility may consider straight 48s
• 84 hours biweekly with 72 hour guarantee
• Weekend work required as needed, potentially most weekends during the contract
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but set schedules cannot be approved
• Floating required to support Med Surg needs
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) required in-hand before start
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management skills
• Experience with cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and insulin protocols
• Wound care and isolation precautions experience
• Nursys verification required for consideration

Additional Information

• Care for patients in a Progressive Care Unit/telemetry setting including cardiac, renal, and neurological cases
• Support Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
• Clinicians must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer or have a completion plan in place
• Charting modules are completed during orientation and average 2-3 hours
