Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN with at least 2 years of recent telemetry/progressive care experience and a MO or compact RN license for a floating position requiring both Kansas and Missouri licensure.

Details

• PCU Float unit within a hospital setting, covering MS/Tele, Telemetry, and Cardiac Telemetry patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per Saint Luke's 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
• No on-call requirement
• Uses Epic charting system
• Daily census of 30 with 30 rooms on the unit

Requirements

• Active RN license required - Missouri or compact license required, and Kansas license also required due to interfacility floating
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, telemetry, and use of rapid response teams
• Experience with IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care, and starting IVs
• Experience managing feeding tubes, hemodialysis patients, and renal failure care
• Experience with cardiac drip management (no titration) and heparin protocols
• Experience with CVA and pre/post neurosurgery patients
• Experience with respiratory care including high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
• Social Security Number required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide intermediate level of care for a wide variety of conditions including stroke, heart failure, respiratory failure, pneumonia, GI bleed, syncope, TIA, falls, and post-surgical monitoring
• Preferred experience includes ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings, port access, vasoactive drip management, PCA, traumatic brain injury care, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time off requests finalized at time of consideration
• No additional RTO or schedule changes permitted after offer or onsite
• Returning staff must have an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service; former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
