Travel Med-Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Join a collaborative inpatient care team as a Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse on a 13-week travel nursing contract in Columbus, Ohio. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract

• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Coverage: Approximately 3–4 weekend day shifts per month
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Assignment: Approximately 4 patients per nurse
• Documentation: EPIC electronic medical record
• Floating: May float to lower-acuity or other appropriate units as needed

Med-Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements

• Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience, including medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• IV certification and demonstrated competence starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
• Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records preferred
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, organization, and multitasking skills
• Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
• Ability to complete required Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing promptly
• Influenza vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered

Medical-Surgical and Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Start and manage peripheral IVs and administer IV medications, antibiotics, and other prescribed therapies
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and patient responses to treatment
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately, including use of rapid response and code team procedures
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures such as Foley catheter care, PICC management, chest tube care, paracentesis support, lumbar puncture support, and peritoneal dialysis-related care as applicable
• Care for patients with complex medical needs, including substance withdrawal, organ failure, altered level of consciousness, behavioral concerns, and developmental disabilities
• Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, recovery, and self-care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary partners, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Float to other appropriate units when needed while maintaining patient safety and care quality
