Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring 2 years of specialty experience, a MO or compact RN license, and Kansas licensure in hand for interfacility floating.

Details

  • PCU Float unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (6:45p-7:15a), 13-week assignment
  • 8 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule period, combination of Fri/Sat/Sun
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license, Missouri or compact required, along with Kansas license in hand at time of consideration due to floating requirements
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Previous Charge RN and Teaching Hospital experience preferred
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Proficiency in IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
  • Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
  • Knowledge of cardiac drip management, heparin protocols, PCA, and procedural sedation administration
  • Experience managing IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, and pre/post hemodialysis care
  • Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor or above and the second from a charge RN, both from within the past year
  • Social Security number required at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care for cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical patients within a progressive care/stepdown environment
  • Support rapid response and code team interventions as needed
  • Complete EPIC training module or EPIC test-out option, along with infusion pump and glucometer training prior to start
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, finalized at time of consideration with no changes after offer or onsite
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
  • Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of previous employment; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
