Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Oncology position caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients, requiring 2 years of acute care experience with at least 1 year in PCU.

Details

• PCU/Oncology unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Primarily cares for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients, adult and geriatric population
• No chemo certification required
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, up to 1:5
• Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30) on a 3x12 schedule
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• Utilizes Epic for computerized charting
• Special focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: ONS Chemo Cert
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU experience required
• Oncology experience preferred, training provided
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required: MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, use of Rapid Response Teams, feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to newly diagnosed acute leukemia and hematology patients
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at this facility
• RTO must be submitted with the contract and built in, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
